PURPOSE:To improve durability of a lash adjuster in an engine with multiple valve in which three valves are provided for either intake or exhaust valves for first valves and the other valves for second valves by devising arrangement positions of the first and the second valves, a lash adjuster for receiving a swing arm of each of the valves, and so on. CONSTITUTION:In an engine provided with three intake valves (first valves) 31 through 33 and two exhaust valves (second valves) 41 and 42 for each of cylinders, the intake valves 31 through 33 are provided so that they are inclined toward valve stem end parts on the side of a cylinder bore and the valve stem are in parallel with each other, and the exhaust valves 41 and 42 are provided so that they are inclined toward valve stem end parts on the other side of the cylinder bore. And a hydraulic lash adjuster (Adj) 72 for receiving one end of a swing arm 82 for opening/closing the center intake valve 32 is provided on the side close to the cylinder bore center, while Adj 71 and 73 relating to the intake valves 31 and 33 on both sides are provided on the side far from the cylinder bore center. Also, an ignition plug 102 is provided in parallel with the exhaust valves 41 and 42 so that an ignition point is located at the cylinder bore center.
