Abstract:
To provide an engine which can make compatible both the promotion of the flame propagation of quick combustion using an ignition plug, and the prevention of the self-ignition of an air-fuel mixture existing in a region apart from the ignition plug immediately after forcible ignition by the ignition plug.SOLUTION: In an engine 1 that has a piston 8 having a crown face 30 forming a combustion chamber 16 in a cylinder 6, and an ignition plug 22 arranged at a ceiling face 16a of the combustion chamber 16 and igniting an air-fuel mixture of fuel and air in the combustion chamber 16 to combust the air-fuel mixture, and that forcibly ignites the air-fuel mixture by the ignition plug 22 in the vicinity of a compression top dead point of the piston 8, at least one vertical wall part 32 radially extending with a portion 36 immediately below the ignition plug 22 arranged at the ceiling face 16a of the combustion chamber as a center in a plane view in a cylinder axial direction is formed on the crown face 30 of the piston.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
