To obtain the subject compound exhibiting high bactericidal and fungicidal activities by reacting a specific compound with an alkali metal salt of a specific alcohol or thiol.

The objective compound is expressed by formula I [Q is (CH2)m ((m) is 2 or 3) or CH-R (R is H, phenyl., etc.; Q' is morpholin-4-yl, dimethylamino, methyl-ethylamino, etc.; R1 is H, a halogen, a (substituted)phenyl, a 1-6C alkyl or an alkoxy; R2 and R3 are each H, a halogen, a (substituted) 16C alkyl or an alkoxy; X is O or S), e.g. 3-(4chlorobenzyloxy)-3-(3,4- dimethoxyphenyl)-1-morpholin-4-ylprop-2-en-l-one as the E or Z isomer or a mixture containing E and Z isomers. The compound can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II with an alkali metal salt of an alcohol or thiol of formula III and separating the obtained mixture by crystallization, etc.
