To provide an entertainment unit and a monitor that can display a video image and reproduce sound by themselves or even when the entertainment unit is connected to a television receiver.

The entertainment unit is provided with a unit body 1, that generates an audio signal and a video signal to provide outputs of them and with the monitor 90 that is mounted on the unit body 1 to conduct sound output and image display, on the basis of the audio signal and the video signal outputted from the unit main body 1. The unit body 1 is provided with a container section for loading an optical disk at its upper side and an opening/ closing enabled cover 13 that covers the container section. The monitor 90 can maintain each attitude of the state, where the monitor 90 is placed overlapping on the cover 13 and a state, in which a viewer can view a display device 911 from the front direction of the unit body 1 even when the viewer is apart from the cover, and the monitor 90 is mounted on the unit body 1 at least in a turnable state between the attitudes.
