Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a test to be used for diagnosis of Celiac disease in an initial stage.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for diagnosing Celiac disease or susceptibility to Celiac disease in a sample obtained from an individual including; bringing a sample from an individual into contact with at least one agent selected from (i) a peptide containing at least one epitope having a sequence selected from a group comprising sequence numbers: 18, 20-22, 31-36, 40-44, and 46 and their equivalents, (ii) an analogue of (i) which is recognized by a T cell receptor that recognizes (i), and which is not more than 50 amino acids in length, and (iii) a peptide comprising at least one epitope having a sequence selected from a sequence number: 1 and a sequence number: 2 in addition to an agent arbitrarily selected from (i) and (ii); and determining in vitro whether or not T cells in the sample recognize the agent, where recognition by the T cells indicates that the individual has or is susceptible to Celiac disease.SELECTED DRAWING: None
