Title:
EPOXIDATION OF PROPYLENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3709212
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce propylene oxide safely at an excellent selectivity from propylene and tert-butyl hydroperoxide.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a process for producing propylene oxide and tert-butyl alcohol from propylene and tert-butyl hydroperoxide in a tert-butyl alcohol solution, comprising feeding a feed mixture containing a recycle stream to an isothermal segment, converting therein 60-80 wt.% of tert- butylhydroperoxide thereby obtaining an intermediate reaction mixture, recycling 25-100 wt.% of the solution back to the isothermal segment and converting the remainder in an adiabatic segment.
