Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a chemical intermediate and a monomer.
SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by the formula (R2 and R3 are each fluorine or a perfluoroalkyl) and is e.g. 2,3-bis(perfluorobutyl)oxirane. The compound of the formula is obtained by reacting a halohydrin of formula R2R3FCCHXCH(OH)CFR2R3 (X is Cl, Br or I), e.g. perfluoro(6-bromo-5H,6H- decan-5-ol) with a base such as KOH.H2O. The halohydrin is obtained by hydrolyzing a sulfate or halosulfonate derived from a bis(perfluoroalkyl)ethylene such as 1,2-bis(perfluorobutyl)ethylene.
