PURPOSE: To make a key member extracting operation automatic and efficient and also to reduce exposure of an operator on the occasion of assembling a PWR fuel assembly and, besides, to facilitate manufacture of equipment itself and regulation at the time of use thereof.

CONSTITUTION: This equipment has a built-up drum 3 holding a plurality of support gratings S at prescribed intervals and a rotatary support mechanism 4 provided with the built-up drum 3 transversely and supporting it rotatably. A number of holding jigs 5 having square holes 11 in which a number of key members K projecting from the support grating S are inserted removably and long grooves 12 are provided for each disk 1. The jig 5 has a number of pins 14 inserted slidably in the long grooves 12 a slide plate 13 made to hold the pins 14 and moving back and forth in the direction of arrangement of the pins. A rotating mechanism 6 making the jig 5 rotate around the key member K as the axis by the movement of the slide plate 13 is provided for each disk 1, while an extracting mechanism 7 grasping the end part of the key member K and extracting the key member K is provided on the side of the built-up drum 3.
