A controller 6 is configured so that the number of straightening passes of a preceding material 5a is changed by comparing a straightening completion time Ta that is required for completing the straightening of the preceding material 5a, with a straightening machine arrival time Tb that is the time of a following material 5b to arrive at a hot straightening machine 4. Therefore, the controller 6 can set the number of straightening passes of the preceding material 5a by taking the straightening completion time Ta and the straightening machine arrival time Tb into consideration. In this way, the number of straightening passes of the preceding material 5a can be set more properly irrespective of the skill of operators.
