To select organic semiconductor layer materials excellent in photovoltaic performance and to design a cell with high efficiency.
Organic solar cells are evaluated for photovoltaic performance, which cells are built of organic semiconductors each comprising two kinds of organic compounds and generate power by using the photovoltaic conversion function of the organic semiconductors. The method includes molecular orbital calculations, based, respectively, on the molecular structures of the two organic compounds, conducted for a step (a) of measuring the distance D between reference points involving the photovoltaic conversion function, and a step (b) of determining that an organic solar cell composed of two organic compounds short in distance D between references as measured in the step (a) is an organic solar cell that is high in photovoltaic conversion efficiency.
