To provide an evaluation method for the compaction characteristic of a granular substrate, in which a process for changing individual granular substances into a compactly molded body from the state of the granular substances in their compaction, can be evaluated microscopically.
When granular substances 1 are compacted, a fundamental operation in which a pressing member 3 is pressed in for a set time at a constant displacement speed so as to be stopped for a set time is repeated. A change in a load acting on the pressure member 3 is measured in every fundamental operation. The relationship between the pressing time of the pressing member 3 and the load is found. The yield behavior of a granular substance layer 2 in every fundamental operation is investigated. Thereby, the compaction characteristic such as the deformation characteristic, the breakdown characteristic or the like of the granular substances 1 is evaluated microscopically.
