This evaporator for a stratification scavenging engine has a scavenging passage 12 having an air valve 5 and an intake passage 13 having a throttle valve 17 which are vertically arranged. A cover plate 2 is connected to an upper portion of an evaporator body 9 sandwiching a peripheral edge 4a of a film 4, to respectively determine a negative pressure chamber 3 on an upper side of the film 4, an atmospheric pressure chamber 7 on the lower side. The air valve 5 is connected to the film 4. A spring 21 is wound around a negative pressure introduction pipe 8 communicating a Venturi part 13a of the intake passage 13 with the negative pressure chamber 3 penetratingly the air valve 5, for energizing the air valve 5 in a closing direction.
