Title:
EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3399388
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a hydrocarbon adsorbing function of a plurality of catalyst devices mounted in series in multi-stage in an exhaust pipeline.
SOLUTION: A temperature rise of a catalyst device 4B in the downstream ca be controlled at a temperature not over a hydrocarbon adsorbable upper limit temperature by the large heat mass of an exhaust pipeline 3a between a catalyst device 4A and the catalyst device 4B in the downstream of the catalyst device 4A, until the termination of hydrocarbon desorption by the catalyst device 4A in the upstream, so that hydrocarbon desorbed by the catalyst device 4A in the upstream can be surely adsorbed by the catalyst device 4B in the downstream.
