Abstract:

PURPOSE: To regulate en exhaust gas recirculating flow rate according to the running state of an engine by a method wherein a title device comprises a suction valve and an exhaust valve to perform opening and closing operation by means of an electromagnetic force, a solenoid valve driving device to effect opening and closing operation of each of the valves by means of an electromagnetic force, a detecting means to detect an intake air flow rate, and a controller.

CONSTITUTION: A suction valve 1 and an exhaust valve 2 are opened and closed by each valve lifter 10 of a solenoid valve driving device by means of an electromagnetic force. Through running of an engine 13, the solenoid valve driving device opens and closes the valves 1 and 2 by means of an electromagnetic force. Under a state in which the exhaust valve 2 effects recirculation of exhaust gas for a given period, e.g. a period right before and right after completion of the suction stroke of an engine cycle, an intake air flow rate Q is detected by a flow rate sensor 29. An intake air flow rate Q1 available in a state in which recirculation of exhaust gas is stopped is detected, two detecting signals therefrom are inputted to a controller 15, where the two detecting signals are compared with each other. A valve lift amount and the valve timing of the valve 2 are regulated in response to the comparing difference.
