To provide an exhaust gas treatment apparatus that can make an exhaust gas from an incinerator or a carbonizing furnace almost smokeless and odorless with a small amount of water and can be downsized.

The exhaust gas treatment apparatus is equipped with a treating column 10 that comprises a main frame 11 having a cylindrical sidewall 11a, a gas inlet 12 located at a lower side of the main frame 11, a gas outlet 13 located at an upper side of the main frame 11, spiral projections 15 attached to the inside of the sidewall and a nozzle 18 to spray water upward mounted at a lower part inside the main frame 11 and serves to drive the exhaust gas introduced from the gas inlet 12 into the main frame 11 spirally upward along the spiral projections 15 together with the water sprayed from the nozzle 18 and to discharge the exhaust gas from the gas outlet 13.
