Abstract:
To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine for, when a decline in the NOx emission control performance of a SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalyst is detected, enabling the correction of an estimated value for the ammonia storage amount of the SCR catalyst.SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device includes a control device 100 for, when the NOx emission control rate of a SCR catalyst 40 lowers down to a first threshold value or smaller, performing test operation to increase a urea water injection amount from a first injection amount determined on the basis of an estimated value for the ammonia storage amount at the present time to a second injection amount, for, when the NOx emission control rate increases up to a second threshold value or greater, which is greater than the first threshold value, within a predetermined time in the test operation, performing correction processing to reduce the estimated value for the ammonia storage amount, and for, when the NOx emission control rate does not increase up to the second threshold value or greater within the predetermined time in the test operation, performing correction processing to increase the estimated value for the ammonia storage amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
