Abstract:
To promptly eliminate nitrogen oxide and ammonia included in exhaust gas in an exhaust emission control device for purifying the exhaust gas from an ammonia engine.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device that purifies exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine using ammonia as fuel includes: a catalyst having a function for reducing nitrogen oxide and a function for oxidizing ammonia; an active state detection section detecting an active state of the catalyst; a first air-fuel ratio acquisition section acquiring an air-fuel ratio in exhaust gas upstream of the catalyst; and a control section controlling supply amount of ammonia obtained by a fuel supply section supplying ammonia to the internal combustion engine. When the catalyst is in the active state and a concentration index value calculated by using the air-fuel ratio acquired by the first air-fuel ratio acquisition section and indicating progress of oxygen poisoning in the catalyst exceeds a predetermined threshold value, the control section temporarily increases the supply amount of ammonia to excessively enrich the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
