PURPOSE: To irradiate uniformly a photoconductor, by forming the end face into a diffusion face and diffusing an exposing light from side end faces.
CONSTITUTION: A detecting plate 7 is supported on the opposite side of X rays 18 by a transparent supporting substrate 20, and a light source 19 is provided in the side end part of the supporting substrate 20, and an end face 21 is formed into the diffusing face so that the exposing light from the light source 19 is diffused on the end face 21 and is incident uniformly from a transparent electrode 1 to a photoconductor 3. The end face 21 has the outside shielded from light by a black coating, a multilayered interference film, or the like for the purpose of preventing the exposing light from leaking to the outside or preventing a harmful light from the outside from being incident to the detecting plate 7. When the detecting plate is charged or discharged, plural detecting plates are arranged, and they are exposed to ligh from the side of the side end together, thereby processing a large quantity of detecting plates in a short time.
