To express a various kind of expression such as laugh and anger by providing a transmission mechanism for interlockedly rotating respective parts which constitute the face of an initiative living being, selecting a prescribed interlocked state out of a plurality of interlocked states of the respective parts which are set for expressing an arbitrary expression, and driving the transmission mechanism.

When anger expression is set on an initiative living being apparatus, the rotation direction of a motor is set by changing the terminal of a switch to an R side and a monitor time TM is set to '0' initially to decide the rotation time of the motor. When an ON/OFF switch is turned on in this state, the motor is rotated, then the eyebrows 22, the eyes 23, the mouth 26, etc., move interlockedly by the rotation via a gear row and the normal expression (b) is started to change into the anger expression (c). When the monitor time reaches a prescribed time, a cam opens a micro switch so that the ON/OFF switch turns to off and the initiative living being shows the anger expression. On the other hand, when the sad expression is selected, the motor is rotated inversely for a prescribed time.
