To reduce the deflection of a shaft by forming the shaft into a hollow shape so as to reduce the weight thereof, and to reduce the bending stress in the extended shaft pump structure.
A hollow shaft 10 for rotating an impeller 31 provided at a tip thereof is supported by a journal bearing and a thrust bearing, which are not expressed with a figure, at one end thereof and supported by a journal bearing 33 at the tip thereof. The hollow shaft 10 is formed of three hollow shafts 10a, 10b and 10c by fastening the periphery thereof with bolts 6 and nuts 7 at plural positions. In the periphery of flanges 3a and 3b of a connection part, a ring-like cover 4 is fixed with the flanges 3a and 3b by inserting a bolt 6 into a cover fitting flange 5 so as to prevent the turbulence of the water flow flowing in the periphery. Deflection of the shaft is restricted by forming the shaft of an extended shaft horizontal pump into a hollow shape, and the bending stress to be generated is thereby reduced.
