Title:
EXTRUDED PIPE OF ALUMINUM ALLOY HAVING HIGH STRENGTH AND SUPERIOR STRESS CORROSION CRACKING RESISTANCE FOR HYDROFORMING PROCESS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010196089
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To manufacture an extruded pipe of a high-strength 7000 series aluminum alloy, which is superior in pipe expansion formability in a hydroforming process and stress corrosion cracking resistance as well, with a porthole extrusion technique.

The extruded pipe of the 7000 series aluminum alloy comprises 6.0-9.0% Zn, 0.8-2.0% Mg, 0.6-2.0% Cu, 0.1-0.5% Mn, 0.1-0.3% Cr, 0.1-0.3% Zr, and the balance Al with unavoidable impurities in which Si is limited to 0.05% or less; and has a surface recrystallized layer with a thickness of 70 μm or less. The total content of Cu and Mg is desirably controlled to 3.5% or less.
