Abstract:
To provide an extrusion molding billet and a method of manufacturing an extruded material, with which surface flaws of the extruded material can be restricted, when extruding and molding a 'nickel-based heat resistant superalloy' that is a hard-to-process material.SOLUTION: An extrusion molding billet is obtained by accommodating a material to be extruded and molded, which is made of a nickel-based heat resistant superalloy, in a vessel made of low-carbon steel or austenitic stainless steel. In the extrusion molding billet, the material to be extruded and molded, which is accommodated in the vessel, has a tapered edge part that is on a die side when being extruded and molded, and its taper half-angle θ is 40-80°. Further, in a method of manufacturing an extruded material to be molded by direct extrusion, the extrusion molding billet is heated to a hot working temperature, and the extrusion molding billet heated to the hot working temperature is inserted into a container such that the tapered edge part of the material to be extruded and molded is on the die side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
