Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facility and a method for storage of a radioactive contaminant that realize safe grasping of radioactive concentration of a radioactive contaminant in a temporary storage facility.SOLUTION: A storage section stores a contaminant 3. The contaminant 3 means soil removed by decontamination in a radioactively-contaminated region and waste substances contaminated by radioactive substances. A water shielding section 5 is provided around the storage section. The water shielding section 5 is formed, for example, with a water shielding sheet or clay-rich soil. The water shielding section 5 prevents intrusion of rainwater, etc. into the storage section and prevents outflow of water, etc. from the storage section. The storage section includes a measuring instrument 7 along with the contaminant 3. For the measuring instrument 7, a γ-ray detector is used as an example. The measuring instrument 7 can measure a radiation dose (μSv/h). The measuring instrument 7 is arranged at multiple positions in the storage section. The measuring instrument 7 is especially desirable to be arranged at vertically-different positions.
