Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the facsimile MODEM in which facsimile communication is conducted suitably even when processing capability of a communication terminal equipment is low and an analysis required time in a communication terminal equipment is extended.
CONSTITUTION: A CPU 1 executes a program stored in a ROM 2 and discriminates image data reception speed from a bit pattern of 'DCS (digital instruction signal) + information field' from a facsimile equipment of opposite party sent through a telephone network and sets the reception speed of image data before an image data reception command is received from the communication terminal equipment. Thus, it is not required to make reception setting based on a reception setting command from the communication terminal equipment, the reception setting required time by a facsimile MODEM 100 and the communication terminal equipment is reduced and even when a communication terminal equipment with a low processing capability is in use, no hindrance is provided to facsimile communication. The method above is effective to the facsimile MODEM in compliance with the EIA/TIA-578.
