Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect failure of a solenoid valve for actuating an intake pipe characteristic frequency changing device for changing a characteristic frequency of an intake pipe.
CONSTITUTION: To an electronic control unit(ECU) 1 to which a pressure sensor 42 to detect a pressure inside an intake pipe 1 changing in proportion to an intake flow is connected, a solenoid valve 2 for opening/closing an entrance of a resonator chamber 13 and a solenoid valve 3 for opening/closing an entrance of a bypass passage 14 are connected. An opening/closing signal is outputted to this solenoid valve 2 or 3, and when change quantity of the intake flow or change quantity of pulsation width of the intake flow before and after outputting the opening/closing signal is a specified value or less, it is determined that a failure has occurred to the solenoid valve outputting the opening/closing signal, and it is displayed in a display 44.
