To provide a fall preventing device for housed article of a shelf which generates no obstacle in putting in and out or exhibition of housed articles and reliably prevents falling of the housed articles.

The fall preventing device has a fall preventing means 7 formed of a fall preventing part 7a for preventing the falling of housed matters and a supporting part 7b fixed to at least one end of the part 7a. In this case the part 7a of the means 7 exists on a position giving no obstacle to putting in/out of the housed articles by engaging of an engaging means 16 before a quake equal to or larger than a fixed value occurs. However, at the time of occurrence of a quake equal to or larger than a fixed value, the means 16 is disengaged by the quake equal to or larger than a fixed value and the part 7a is moved to the putting in/out surface of the housed matter to prevent falling of the housed article.
