PURPOSE: To obtain a feeder for a henhouse, preventing feathers of chickens from getting into a main body of the feeder.

CONSTITUTION: A feeder is equipped with a main body 3 of a trough-like feeder having an open top arranged in front of plural cages set side by side to make chickens eat a formula feed, a chain conveyor 9 laid in the interior of the main body 3 of the feeder to move the formula feed and the feeder having a cover device for opening and closing the top of the main body 3 of the feeder. The cover device consists of a revolving shaft 12 which is supported on the main body 3 of the feeder and rotates on the shaft center line of the main body, a cover member which is fixed to the revolving shaft 12 and opens and closes the top of the main body 3 of the feeder by the revolution of the revolving shaft and a driving mechanism to rotate the revolving shaft 12. When the driving mechanism is worked, the cover member 10 is closed and feathers will not get into the main body 3 of the feeder. When the cover 10 is opened after the formula feed extends to the whole main body 3 of the feeder, chickens in each cage can evenly eat the formula feed.
