Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lead-free ferritic free cutting stainless steel which has excellent outgass resistance, corrosion resistance and machinability.
SOLUTION: The ferritic free cutting stainless steel has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.1% C, ≤1.0% Si, ≤0.5% Mn, >0.05 to 0.15% P, 0.1 to 0.4% S, 0.5 to 1.5% Cu, ≤1.0% Ni, 16 to 21% Cr, ≤1.0% Mo, ≤0.05% N and ≤0.03% O, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which the ratio between the Mn content and the S content, (Mn/S) is controlled to ≤2.
