Abstract:
To provide a fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) with an enhanced polarization extinction ratio (PER).
A fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) 40 comprises: a depolarizer 46 that receives light from a light source 42; a multifunction integrated optic chip (MIOC) 50; a sensing coil 52 coupled to outputs of the MIOC 50; a polarizer 48 coupled between an output of the depolarizer 46 and an input of the MIOC 50. The polarizer 48 mitigates the polarization non-reciprocity (PNR) bias error and enhances the polarization extinction ratio (PER) of the FOG.
