Title:
FIBER OPTICAL PRESSURE SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02126127
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To bury a sensor and detect the pressure of a certain ground surfaced zone and at the same time bend the sensor in axial and side directions by sandwiching an optical fiber whose optical characteristics change due to pressure using a pressure member in specific shape.

CONSTITUTION: A cable 20 can be buried and has at least one optical fiber. Pressure members 21 and 22 for transferring pressure for detecting pressure applied to a ground surface zone where the cable is buried at any location over the entire length have a repetition structure, for example, with a notch 23 for bending and an upper part 22 and a lower part 21 sandwich the cable. The upper structure 22 is at least approximately 1 cm wide, is in accordion shape or spaced with vertical or inclined ribs 27. 28, and 29 to detect pressure even if the pressure is not applied perpendicularly, segments are alternately aligned at right angle are connected by a flexible envelope for coping with winding-up and flex.
