Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a fiber-reinforced metal composite material having high specific strength, specific rigidity, strength and wear resistance by using an amorphous high-strength heat-resistant alloy consisting of Al, La, Ni, etc., as the matrix metal and an inorg. fiber of specified structure consisting essentially of carbon as the reinforcement.

CONSTITUTION: An amorphous high-strength heat-resistant alloy shown by fomula AlaPbQc or the composite of the amorphous alloy and the microcrystalline alloy is used as the matrix metal. In the formula, P is ≥1 kind of metallic element selected from Y, lanthanoids and misch metals, Q is ≥1 kind of metallic element selected from Fe, Ni, Co, Cu and Zn, (a), (b) and (c) are atom%, 10≤a≤90, 5≤b≤80 and 5≤c≤55. An inorg. fiber contg. ≥92% carbon is used as the reinforcing fibrous material, the carbon consists of a ribbon-shaped rondom-layer structural carbon wherein the microcrystals with the hexagonal reticular planes stacked are continued and a non-structural carbon, and the fiber without the reflection of the hkl face being observed is used as the carbon in X-ray diffraction.
