Abstract:
To provide a fiber reinforced preform, in which a gap between a mold and a core can drastically be reduced and the shape can be made large and also, the good running of molten metal to a periphery is obtd. and the good impregnating ability can be achieved by isotropically pressurizing and the strength of the whole interface between the fibers and a matrix metal can be improved.
In the fiber reinforced preform 2 disposed in the mold 3 and enclosed with the matrix metal which is poured in the mold 3 and pressurized, to constitute a fiber reinforced metal composite member, the reinforcing fiber is formed by binding and fixing with binder and also, passages 21 of the molten matrix metal are formed on the surface 2s of the preform 2.
