To provide a fiber treating agent having excellent stability suitable for processing a textile product and antibacterial property with excellent wash resistance and giving a functional textile product free from gas yellowing trouble.
The fiber treating agent is composed of an aqueous dispersion containing zinc oxide fine particles and 0.05-200 pts.mass of a dispersant based on 100 pts.mass of the zinc oxide fine particle, wherein the zinc oxide fine particle has an average primary particle diameter of 2 m or less, and the dispersant is selected from (A) a sulfosuccinate-type anionic surfactant having a 10-22C alkyl group or alkenyl group and (B) an aqueous polyester resin obtained from a polybasic acid component containing 0-30 mol% sulfonate group-containing polybasic acid or its derivative and a polyhydric alcohol component containing polyethylene glycol and having a polyoxyethylene chain content of 50-95 mass%.
