PURPOSE: To provide a fiber type polarizer which has such a new structure that a birefringence optical fiber wound around a bobbin is free from tension, the producing method for this polarizer, and the new producing method which produces the fiber type polarizer having a bobbinless structure without damaging the birefringence optical fiber neither loosening the coil.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of the structure with a bobbin, a bobbin 2 is used which has a cut 2a in a part and is provided with a body 21 whose outside peripheral length can be changed by elastic deformation, and the outside peripheral length of the body 21 is reduced by elastic deformation to eliminate the stress applied to the coil of a birefringence optical fiber 1 after the outside peripheral length of the body 21 is increased to wind the birefringence optical fiber 1 around the body 21. In the case of the bobbinless structure, the outside peripheral length of a jig which can be elastically deformed like the body is reduced by elastic deformation and it is pulled out after the outside peripheral length of this jig is increased to wind the birefringence optical fiber 1 around it.
