PURPOSE: To facilitate the analysis of the file contents by outputting a character file in a note form with addition of a comment and displaying this comment or the page number.

CONSTITUTION: The desired character name inputted from a keyboard 1 and to be outputted to a display part 3 is given to a reading means 7. This means 7 reads a designated character file out of a data storage part 4 and also reads the information on the comment added to the character file out of a comment information storage part 5. Then the number of lines is inputted via the key board 1 for each page and a page information extracting means 8 extracts the page information on the character file based on the input number of lines the extracted page information is sent to a note form output means 9, and the first two pages of the character file are outputted to a display part 3 in a not form. Then the comment and the page number of the character file are displayed.
