In the method for forming a film, having a particular shape on the spacer which keeps the spacing between the front board and the back board of an image display unit, the method includes a preparation process, in which a film material to be formed on a specific point of the spacer is prepared in a certain shape which specifies a final particular film shape, a process in which the film material having the certain shape is abutted on or brought nearer to the base metal of the spacer, and a process in which the film material is heated.
