The film holder has a film holding member attachably/ detachably holding the film where image parts are successively arranged in a longitudinal direction, and having a film holding surface for holding the film, an aperture part for exposing the image part of the film and a member for holding both corners of the film in a state where one end of the film is butted, and a film pressing member interposing the film by fitting with the film holding member through the film and setting the film in a take-out state by releasing the fitting with the film holding member. The film holding member positions the film by butting the one end of the film. The image reader is equipped with an original platen, a light source for irradiating the film, and a reading part capable of reading the light from the light source, which is reflected on the film or transmitted through the film.
