Title:
FILTER DEVICE FOR MOLTEN METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3772006
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of casting materials and rolled stock using filtered molten metal by providing the inside of the subject device with a filter for filtering the molten metal of aluminum, etc., filtered by porous ceramic tubes and removing the aggregate grains dislodged from these ceramic tubes.
SOLUTION: A tap hole 4 of the molten metal filtered by the plural porous ceramic tubes 5 which are supported and fixed at the end plates 2 of a vessel body 1 and are sealed at the one-side ends is provided with the filter 6 consisting of a hard medium layer which is more coarsely meshed than the ceramic tubes 5. The porous ceramic tubes 5 are formed by bonding the aggregate particles of alumina, silicon carbide, etc., with an inorg. binder. The filter 6 is also formed by bonding the aggregate particles of the molten alumina, silicon carbide, etc., with the inorg. binder. The filter openings are made coarser than the ceramic tubes 5. The points where the filters 5 are arranged may be the open ends 8 of the ceramic tubes 5.
