PURPOSE: To improve the operability and reliability of the fingerprint collating device by providing the device with a collating processing part for successively collating image data stored in an image memory with a full feature point (full manucer) list stored in an accessed file.
CONSTITUTION: This device is constituted of a fingerprint image input part 10, an A/D conversion part 11, an image input control part 12 an image memory 13, a collating processing part 18, an output part 19, an input part 20, and files 21 to 23. Registering finger prints are previously stored in respective sorting files in each fingerprint sorting category, one of the files is accessed by using an identification(ID) code consisting of the decimal place to identify each file and the coincidence of an inputted fingerprint with one of the registered fingerprints in the access file is collated, so that the ID code can easily be stored and is not missed. Consequently, a personal identification device having high operability and reliability can be obtained.
