To provide a fingerprint image generation device for suppressing an error taking a sweat gland hole area for a valley line area in generating a binary fingerprint image where the image is binarized into a ridge line pixel value showing a ridge line area and a valley line pixel value showing a valley line area.
A fingerprint image generation device 1 comprises a local area setting means 14 setting a local area at a part of a multivalued fingerprint image in which unevenness of the fingerprint is indicated by multiple values; a ridge line candidate area determining means 15 determining whether or not the local area is a ridge candidate area on the basis of a comparison result between a local representative value representing a value of pixels included in the local area and a prescribed reference value; a threshold setting means 16 setting a first binarizing threshold for the local area determined as the ridge line candidate area to a value easy to determine as the ridge line area in comparison to a second binarizing threshold for the local area not determined as the ridge candidate area; and a binarizing means 17 binarizing the pixels included in the local area by means of the first or the second binarizing threshold.
