Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reamer for finishing a circular hole with a high roundness and a good surface roughness.
SOLUTION: A main groove 20 extending in the axial direction is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the body 12 of a reamer 10. A coolant blast-off port 26 is formed to one side groove side surface 22, and a chip 32 is fixed to the tip angle part of the other side side surface 28, and an edge part 70 furnished with the first and the second main cutting edges, an auxiliary cutting edge 42, a rake face 34, and the first auxiliary flank 40, is formed. An auxiliary groove 59 is fomred neighboring to the main groove 20. The side surface of the auxiliary groove 50 near the main groove 20 is made as the second flank 52, and the groove side surface 60 at the opposite side is formed square to the outer peripheral surface of the body 12. The outer peripheral surface of the part of the body 12 where the grooves 20 and 50 are not formed is made as a guide surface 74. The radius of the guide surface 74 is smaller by 3.5 μm to 5.5 μm than the turning radius of the auxiliary cutting edge 42. The guide surface 74 carries out the guide, and the edge part 70 carries out the finish process of the inner peripheral surface of a circular hole. The groove side surface 60 of the auxiliary groove 50 prevents the insertion of chips between the guide surface 74 and the inner peripheral surface of the circular hole.
