To provide a fire proof member having superior installability and handlability in a fire proofing processing of an elongate body penetrating part in a fire proofing compartment and having high reliabilty for closing a penetrating part in case of fire and a fire proof method using the same.

In a fire proof member 1 for packing around an elongate body of an elongate body penetrating part in a fire proofing compartment, the fire proof member 1 is constituted by wrapping a fire-resistant formed body 2 constituted by forming an elastic thermally expandable fire-resistant material constituting mixing a resin material and an expandable material as a main components in a tube shape with a bag 3 comprising a cloth or a film. It is preferable that the cloth or the film includes a flame retardant material or a noncombustable material. Further, it is preferable that the fire proofing is carried out so as to shove the fire proof material 1 around the elongate body l such that the center axis of the tubular fire-resistant body 2 is substantially parallel to the opening surface of the elongate body penetrating part.
