To provide the subject method capable of firing a gasifier, shortening a time period for firing and reducing an amount of fuel necessary for firing by using a simple apparatus.
The objective apparatus is obtained by providing a firing burner 3 in the upper section of a slug pot 5 in the lower section of a gasifier 1 so as to extend the flames of the firing burner 3 to an outlet port of a gasifying burner 2 and fixing to the gasifying burner 2 a pipe for feeding a solid fuel, another pipe for feeding a gaseous fuel and selector valves 6a and 6b on each pipe. The objective method comprises: first, firing the firing burner 3 by using an igniter 8, next, firing the gaseous fuel of the gasifying burner 2 by the firing burner 3 and gradually converting from the gaseous fuel to the solid fuel in the gasifying burner 2 after a temperature of the gasifier increases.
