To provide a fixing apparatus capable of speeding up a temperature control, preventing the occurrence of adverse effects caused by instability of the temperature control and obtaining a high fixing stability.
In the fixing apparatus provided with approximately cylindrical heating rolls to be rotated while pressurizing press rolls in contact with the press rolls each other, heating members stored in the heating rolls and a temperature detection element formed on the outer peripheral side surface of the heating rolls, the heating members have many heating segments arranged in the axis direction of the heating rolls and dividing parts for dividing between respective heating segments. The heating members form heat distribution having ridge parts corresponding to the heating segments and trough parts corresponding to the divided parts on the outer periphery side face of the heating roll and the temperature detection element is formed so as to detect the temperatures of positions on which the ridge parts are formed.
