PURPOSE: To detect the size of a flame quickly and accurately, by identifying the size of the flame on the base of the rising output among detection outputs at a detector section.
CONSTITUTION: When a signal from a flame detector 9 is inputted through an input interface 15, a control section 17 controls vertical way control means 3b and 4b, horizontal way control means 3c and 4c and a direction control means 6 on a control program through an output interface 16 so that the fire searching zone already equally divided in two will be further set for division to give an order of searching the source of the fire. The control section 17 also incorporates a identifying section 19 which identifies the size of a flame based on the rising output in the information from detector sections 3a and 4a adapted to detect the flame. When any one of flame searchers detect a flame, the identifying section 19 drives the vertical way control means of the other flame searcher to control the deviation angle in the vertical way of the corresponding detector section to the same angle as the other detector section which detected the flame and the horizontal-way scanning by the one pair of detector sections 3a and 4a is performed normally and reversely in sequence to decide on the position of one end and the other end of the flame.
