Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition capable of realizing a high level of flame retardancy without impairing the processability and mechanical characteristics by including specific amounts of an inorganic hydrate and a lithium compound in an olefinic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is obtained by adding 70-300 pts.wt. inorganic hydrate (e.g. aluminum hydroxide), $0.5 pts.wt. lithium compound (e.g. lithium carbonate) and, as necessary, a filler, a reinforcing agent, etc., to 100 pts.wt. olefinic polymer (e.g. polyethylene or an ethylene-propylene copolymer).
