PURPOSE: The titled composition having improved physical properties, processing characteristics in molding, and flame retardance, obtained by blending a synthetic resin with a specific amount of a flame-retardant compound shown by a specified formula.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. synthetic resin (e.g., polyamide, etc.) is blended with 1W50pts.wt. (preferably 3W30pts.wt.) compound shown by the formulaI(X and X' are OH, NHR1, NHCOR2 or R3; A and A' are groups shown by the formula II or III; n is =1W20; R is H, 1W8C alkyl, allyl, or acyl; R1WR3 are H, 1W20C alkyl, or allyl, especially preferably X and X' are NH2, A and A are imino, and n=1W3) obtained by subjecting at least one 1,3,5-s-triazine ring compound selected from melamine, guanamine, ammeline, ammelide, and their derivatives to condensation reaction with 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid, to give the desired composition.
