Abstract:

To remove an intrinsic defect in a flange sealing surface.

First, a flange sealing surface forming part 3 of an aluminum casting structure 1 is roughly machined. Secondly, a heat generating probe pin 5 is pressed against the flange sealing surface forming part 3 while rotating it. The base material of the flange sealing surface forming part 3 is allowed to plastically flow by frictional heat generated at this time, and the heat generating probe pin 5 is pushed therein. Successively, the heat generating probe pin 5 is moved along the circumferential direction while it continuously produces the plastic flow, to remove intrinsic defect. Thereafter, the flange sealing surface forming part 3 is finished to form a flange sealing surface 2.
