Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simply set a tourus shape, by forming such that the wall thickness of a stator blade is made to be thin, the inlet side leading edge section thereof is formed in a flat edge shape, and the core side and shell side thereof are twisted. CONSTITUTION:The cross-sectional area of a fluid passage defined by a turbine 12 having sheet metal turbine blades, a pump 10 having pump blades and a stator 14 is made to be substantially constant, the thickness wall of the stator blade being made to be thin in order to ensure an effective cross-sectional area of a fluid passage within the stator 14. The inlet side leading edge section of the blade 18 is formed in a flat edge shape while the core side end section 20 and shell side end section 22 of the stator blade 16 are twisted with the length of the core side section being set to be as long as possible. Therefore, the shape of the tourus may be made to be simple, thereby it is possible to easily set the shape of the tourus even if the capacity of a torque converter is changed.
