Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly transfer a plurality of machining operations using a different tool, without performing tool replacing work between these operations, by conveying a workpiece, eliminate the necessity for rapid rise up and lower down of the rotation of a tool spindle, in a flexible production system.
SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of workpiece conveying units 10 successively input from one end of a machining line 100 is conveyed in a horizontal first direction by a linear motor toward the other end, in this conveying process, to be successively indexed to expected several front surfaces of a plurality of spindle heads 60 arranged along the machining line 100. A workpiece hold device mounted movably into two directions different from the first direction, in each index position in accordance with a numerical control program, is machiningly fed relating to a tool on a tool spindle in the spindle head 60, a workpiece is machined. In the conveying unit 10, machining in one spindle head 60 is ended, almost simultaneously with starting a conveying feed toward the next spindle head 60, the rotation rise up of a tool spindle of the next spindle head 60 is started.
